Looking for something different to do? Tired of “out of Town” shopping, traffic jams and DIY sheds? If so, this may be the right time to head outdoors, breathe in that refreshing air and take in the remarkable sights of nature’s bounty. Take a quick look at our top three garden picks.

The Magnificent Ragley Hall, Warwickshire

Way back in 1680, Robert Hooke sure knew what he was doing when he designed this amazing Palladian House, set within 400 acres of ‘Capability’ Brown parkland. The genius behind the flower garden is Robert Marnock who put a lot of loving thought into every detail. Today, this garden remains a perfect habitat for a plethora of birds and insects. Main attractions of this natural paradise include the Rose Garden, the Winter Garden, the Mixed Border, Spring Bulb Bank, the Scott Garden, Fumpary and the Meadow and Prairie. The Beauty of Penshurst Place, Kent

The panoramic gardens of Penshurst Place in Kent date back to 1346. It stretches across 48 acres of rich green land, 11 acres of which form the famous walled garden. This innovatively designed garden has a yew hedging that segregates the area into different ‘rooms’, each unique in its presentation and focus. Different seasons of the year bring different delights as the garden has something wonderful to offer. In April, you can enjoy the Magnolia Garden while in June the Peony Border comes to life. In July, the Grey and White Garden draws in many visitors as does the Lime Walk in autumn. August is a special month, as the Union Flag garden is lit with a sea of lavender and 2000 roses. The Charm of Wentworth Castle

There’s over 500 acres of fascinating flora to explore at this delightful destination. From natural woodlands, an adventure playground to historic parkland, you will love the variety of experiences that this garden offers. Some of the key attractions include Azalea Gardens, Corinthian Temple, the Union Jack Garden, the Middle Garden, Lady Lucy’s walk, the Wilderness, Sun Monument, Secret Garden and the Conservatory. To explore each of these attractions you can either take a tour alone or join a group led by a volunteer team. It only costs £2.75 per person and starts at 11am. However, do check dates on the Wentworth Castle website. If you’re visiting this month, don’t be surprised to see Primrose, Hellebore, Rhododendron, Cyclamen, Snowdrop and Hammamelis in full bloom.
